Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a relatively new form of psychotherapy that aims to alleviate symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. ART incorporates elements of various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and hypnotherapy. During ART sessions, clients are guided to visualize distressing memories or experiences while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as rhythmic eye movements or hand tapping. This process helps desensitize the emotional charge associated with traumatic memories and facilitates their reprocessing and integration. ART is known for its efficiency, as clients often report significant symptom improvement in a relatively short period compared to traditional therapy approaches.
