Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals develop psychological flexibility—the ability to be present, open up, and act in accordance with one's values, even in the presence of difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences. ACT incorporates mindfulness techniques to help individuals observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, acceptance strategies to help individuals make room for uncomfortable feelings, and commitment and behavior change techniques to help individuals take action toward living a meaningful life aligned with their values. ACT aims to reduce psychological suffering, enhance psychological well-being, and promote behavior change by fostering acceptance, mindfulness, and values-driven action.
